Yuga Labs Sells CryptoPunks IP to Infinite Node Foundation for $20M
The Infinite Node Foundation has acquired the intellectual property rights to CryptoPunks, the pioneering NFT collection originally created by Larva Labs in 2017. Yuga Labs, which acquired the collection in 2021 as part of its Bored APE Yacht Club empire, sold the rights in a deal valued at approximately $20 million.
The nonprofit buyer plans to elevate CryptoPunks’ status by bridging digital and traditional art worlds. Institutional partnerships with museums and educational establishments are underway, including physical exhibitions of the full collection. This strategic shift could inject new energy into the NFT market, which has faced declining momentum since its 2022 peak.
The transaction marks a significant evolution for CryptoPunks—from crypto-native meme to recognized digital art. The foundation’s curatorial approach mirrors traditional art world practices, suggesting growing institutional acceptance of blockchain-based collectibles.
